Pratt Presents: A Public Conversation with Kevin Powell Featuring V (formerly Eve Ensler)

Join writer and activist Kevin Powell for the closing event of his Fall 2026 Poet-and-Scholar-in-Residence program at Pratt Institute. Powell will share the stage with distinguished playwright and activist V (formerly Eve Ensler), author of the celebrated The Vagina Monologues. for a public conversation about art, community, and activism. 

Their conversation will delve into the themes explored throughout the residence, including developing creative expression, how creative practitioners can respond to the issues shaping public life, and how they can contribute to the communities around them. 

The evening will include poetry by Kevin Powell and presentations by select Pratt students who developed creative work through the residency’s four-part workshop.

About Kevin Powell

Kevin Powell is a GRAMMY-nominated writer and poet; the director, co-writer, and co-producer of the documentary film When We Free the World; and the author of 17 books, including A Poem for Evangeline and Other Songs. He is also the playwright of the forthcoming musical and choreopoem Grocery Shopping with My Mother, a Webby Award-winning opinion columnist for Newsweek, and the author of a forthcoming biography of Tupac Shakur.
