“Beyond Digital” explores how media, matter, and life are no longer separate — they are interconnected, co-evolving, and in constant relation. Bringing together artists from Pratt Institute’s Digital Media MFA alumni community, this exhibition expands how we understand technology: not as a tool, but as part of larger systems that sense, respond, and change.
Working across fields such as engineering, ecology, cosmology, and critical theory, these artists blur boundaries between the digital and the physical, the natural and the artificial, revealing how biological, technological, and social systems are deeply entangled.
In these works, meaning is not fixed — it emerges through interaction, duration, and experience. Intelligence is not centered in the human, but distributed across bodies, environments, and technologies.
Rather than representing the world from a distance, these works invite viewers to engage directly with processes already in motion. What emerges is a shift in perspective: from objects to systems, from control to participation, from fixed meanings to evolving relationships.
