Menditation: A Prayer for Mending
April 10, 2026 2:00 PM – 6:00 PM
Steuben Hall Design Gallery, School of Design, 200 Willoughby Ave, Brooklyn, NY 11205
Join the Pratt Mending Circle with special guest Kate Sekules, for an afternoon of repair, reflection, and community on Friday, April 10, from 2–6 p.m. in the Steuben Hall Design Gallery, 2nd floor. Together, we will explore mending as both a practical skill and a mindful practice.
Participants are invited to bring a beloved garment in need of repair or transformation. Through guided conversation and hands-on techniques, we will mend worn areas, rework garments to better fit our bodies, and explore creative approaches to visible repair.
This workshop centers the idea of “menditation”—Kate Sekules’ term for the gentle, powerful effects of stitching repairs on well-loved clothes. This gathering marks the first intentional group menditation, where we will experience together the quiet, attentive rhythms of stitching to calm the mind and care for our clothing. More than mindfulness, it is mendfulness.
This event is open to the public. Food and drinks provided by BKLN Larder.
