Modernism was not just another style of the past; it reflected social change and transformed our way of life. In this presentation, through the lens of Marcel Breuer’s life and design, Yutaka Takiura will discuss what he learned from Breuer’s design and explain why it still matters even in 2024.
Yutaka Takiura is an award-winning architect and Design Director at TD+A New York.
With extensive experience in the industry, Yutaka has worked at Beckhard Richlan and Associates, a successor firm of Marcel Breuer Associates, following Kohn Pedersen Fox Associates.
Yutaka has Architectural Degrees from Waseda University in Tokyo, the Illinois Institute of Technology, and the University of Pennsylvania.
Yutaka is a respected faculty member at the Pratt Creative Enterprise Leadership Department and the Osaka Institute of Technology. He will chair the AIA National Interior Architecture Knowledge Committee in 2025.
He has published numerous articles and given lectures internationally. He has received an AIA NYS Presidential Citation and an AIA National Award.
Yutaka is also involved in social responsibility of design and served on the board of directors at Architecture for Humanity. His dedication to social innovation and positively impacting society make him an unique and invaluable asset to the architecture and design community.
