Growing Together: Creative Workshops for Local Ecologies

A creative workshop exploring community, place and our relationship with living systems.

Growing Together is a participatory online workshop exploring how creative practice can support the exchange of knowledge around local materials and ecologies. Through examples of living materials, site responsive workshops and fieldwork methods, the session looks at how engaging directly with an environment can shape both creative practice and the way participatory work is developed with communities.

Participants will carry out a short fieldwork exercise in their own surroundings, using their observations to identify a local material or ecological condition as the basis for a simple workshop proposal. “Growing Together” asks how local conditions can shape not only what we make, but how knowledge is gathered and shared through participatory practice.

The session is intended for students and practitioners working across design, art, education and environmental practice. No specialist materials or prior experience are required.
