About: In close collaboration with Mothers On the Move (MOM), the project will document and respond to local neighborhood trends in Bronx Community District 06, while exploring innovative strategies to address environmental justice priorities as they relate to the wellbeing of residents and workers in the community. With a special emphasis on the needs of teens and young adults, the overall goal of the studio is to address the lack of access to sufficient and appropriate technical and professional educational resources, employment opportunities, safe and affordable housing, healthcare, and nutrition, in the context of historic environmental burdens that have disproportionately affected low income and communities of color in the community district

About: The Sustainable Communities Studio is working with the Coney Island Neighborhood Revitalization Corporation (CINRC) to kickstart the Coney Island Peoples’ Plan. The studio has put emphasis on deeply understanding the existing conditions and the community’s needs and desires through a series of community engagement efforts and critical context research. In developing recommendations, we have focused on connectedness, accessibility, health and wellbeing, and community ownership and governance.

About: This interdisciplinary studio focuses on the neighborhood of West Harlem, with the Johnny Hartman Plaza as the main site. It builds on the work done by GCPE students in 2018 by examining the broader issues and history of the area, as well as the role of Brotherhood Sister Sol as steward of the Plaza and community leaders. Through the development of a comprehensive plan to support and expand the work of our client, the studio aims at increasing audiences and prompting collaboration, helping to consolidate the Plaza as the heart of the community.

About: The Delta Cities Coastal Resilience Studio is working with the Hackensack Riverkeeper to develop design, planning and policy recommendations to advance community and coastal resilience in the Meadowlands District. To envision a fully sustainable community with the goal of fishable, swimmable and drinkable water of the Hackensack River by 2100, the studio has developed recommendations that focus on regenerative economies, youth engagement, community connectivity, regional self-sufficiency and ecosystem restoration.
