Dragnet Girl (1933) is the third and last of Ozu’s silent “crime films.” It illustrates his early style, his infatuation with Hollywood cinema, his feminist proclivities, and is his only surviving film imbued with a palpable sensuality. Famed Japanese film critic Shiguehiko Hasumi called it, “one of film history’s most beautiful crime melodramas.”
This event is open to the public.
