Panel Discussion: Art and Identity: Allocating resources to the development and representation of Latine/@/X artists

Time: Thursday, September 29, 6:30-8 PM

Location: Pratt Institute, Student Union

Closing reception: the Rubelle and Norman Schafler Gallery, 8-10pm

RSVP required and grants access to both events. Masks required indoors.

Curator Constanza Valenzuela (BFA Sculpture & Art History ’17) will moderate this student-focused discussion underscoring the importance of representation and creating space and resources for dialogue around Hispanic and Latinx identities. Panelists will include dynamic arts leaders who will address equity and diversity. Panelists include Carlos Motta (artist, Coordinator MFA Integrated Practices, and Associate Professor in Fine Arts at Pratt), Elena Ketelsen González (Assistant Curator at MoMA PS1, and Director & Founder, La Salita, a curatorial project dedicated to Latin American, Latinx, and immigrant artists in the U.S.), Nicole Calderón (Calderón Gallery), and Eva Díaz, (critic, art historian, Associate Professor in the Department of the History of Art and Design at Pratt). Please join us after the panel in the Student Union for a closing reception of the Corpus exhibition in Schafler Gallery. The presentation is free and open to the public and will be recorded. Advance registration is required.
