Bystander Intervention to Stop Islamophobic and Xenophobic Harassment

April 17, 2024 1:00 PM – 2:15 PM

Center for Equity & Inclusion
Hosted by Right To Be

Students, faculty, and staff are invited to join us for a screening of a one-hour, interactive training where you’ll learn Right To Be’s 5Ds of bystander intervention methodology. Delve into the various forms of disrespect faced by Muslims and those perceived as Muslim, from microaggressions to violence, using the “spectrum of disrespect.” Discover how bystander intervention positively impacts individuals and communities, and grasp the five intervention strategies: distract, delegate, document, delay, and direct. Learn to prioritize your safety while intervening. Practice interventions and leave feeling empowered to address Islamophobic and Xenophobic harassment online or in person. The screening will be followed by an open discussion.
