Black Solidarity Day: Envisioning Black Futures with André M. Zachery

November 4, 2019 1:00 PM – 2:00 PM

In honor of the 50th Anniversary of Black Solidarity Day, Pratt welcomes interdisciplinary artist and technologist André M. Zachery, Artistic Director of the Renegade Performance Group, for a special lecture-demonstration on Envisioning Black Futures. André will discuss the creative intersection of movement, space design, and multimedia in his practice and invites us to look at graffiti as a complex form: historically serving a social message, but now appropriated as a tool of urban gentrification, and simultaneously a vector of Afrofuturism.

The event is co-sponsored by Black Lives Matter Pratt, the Department of Humanities and Media Studies, the Performance and Performance Studies MFA Program, and the Office of Diversity, Equity and Inclusion. For more information or accommodations, contact blm@pratt.edu.
