The second fall 2021 semester issue of the student-run literary magazine The Prattler is now available to read online. Called The Histories Issue, it includes stories on the legacy of Pratt’s kindergarten program, the symbolism of yellow raincoats in horror, and finding belonging in Little Manila, Queens.

Eva Díaz, associate professor of history of art and design, has an article in the Latinx winter 2021 issue of Aperture magazine. The story explores the work of mixed media artist Sofía Córdova.

Hunter Tran’s “Take My Hand” involves mixed-use infrastructure and pedestrian access to connect visitors to salt marsh ecology.

Slate published an essay by Dean of the School of Architecture Harriet Harriss that is included in the new book Extinct: A Compendium of Obsolete Objects from the University of Chicago Press. It explores the Kodak Flashcube which “made amateur photography of the domestic interior possible from the mid-1960s onwards.”

The Apex Suit designed by the Interwoven Design Group, founded by fashion design and industrial design faculty member Rebeccah Pailes-Friedman, with HeroWear received gold in the 2021 International Design Excellence Awards (IDEA). The design is made for workers in the logistics industry to fight fatigue in the workplace.

On the Pratt Libraries Iron & Glass blog, Sarah Cuk, special collections graduate assistant, wrote about conducting an inventory for the Pratt Graphics Center. Running from 1956 to 1986, it was an extension of Pratt Institute and offered workshops, printing, classes, and exhibitions.
