  • Brad Lander, MS City and Regional Planning ’98 and former director of the Pratt Center for Community Development, joined the GCPE Alumni Spotlight series to discuss his experiences at Pratt and how city planning prepared him for politics, including his recent election to Comptroller of New York City.

  • Visit the Student Union on the Brooklyn campus or @prattinstitute to see work by students celebrating Black History Month in an exhibition organized by the Center for Equity and Inclusion.

  • Associate Professor of Interdisciplinary Practice, Fine Arts, Carlos Motta has collaborated with performance artist Tiamat Legion Medusa, continuing his investigation into queer counter-histories with a two-channel video installation that centers Medusa’s life and work as an interspecies, body-modified transexual. The work is on view until April 22 at OCDChinatown.

  • In the Design Systems class, graduate communications design student Poyu Chen worked on visibility for migrant workers in Taiwan with ideas for art, events, and a mobile app. Read more @prattgradcomd.

  • All Pratt students are invited to submit designs for the Pratt Institute Distinguished Teacher Award (DTA) Medal by March 20. Visit the Pratt Senate site for more details.

  • Grand Panorama by Art and Design Education Professor Theodora Skipitares is being performed at La MaMa through March 6. Using pre-cinema techniques the show explores Frederick Douglass’s belief in the power of photography.

An award-winning scholar and professor in the Graduate Center for Planning and the Environment’s Urban and Community Planning program, Knapp will assume the role on July 1, 2025, succeeding Eve Baron, who is stepping down to join the full-time faculty.
