Thought Matter, a New York–based communication design studio led by Jessie McGuire, visiting instructor of Undergraduate Communications Design, received the 2026 National Design Award for Communication Design from Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. “Receiving this recognition while teaching at Pratt feels especially significant,” said McGuire. “The Entrepreneurship Minor has deepened my commitment to helping students connect creative practice with industry and the systems of capital and decision-making that shape what gets built and what doesn’t.”

For me, architecture is about designing with intention—creating spaces that support people while contributing to a more sustainable built environment.”

Kurt Thomas, BPS Construction Management ’29, has been named the 2025–2026 Rookie of the Year in the Atlantic East Men’s Basketball league. Thomas led the Cannoneers and all AEC rookies in scoring, with 13.2 points per game, and he also delivered 24 blocks over the course of the season.
