Associate Professor in the School of Information John Lauermann, along with graduate assistants Yuanhao Wu, MS Data Analytics and Visualization ’25, and Nathan Smash, MS Data Analytics and Visualization ’24, produced statistics and maps focused on housing data for the exhibition Collective Mobilities by Fine Arts Civic Engagement Fellow Alex Strada. The exhibition runs through March 9 in DeKalb Gallery on Pratt’s Brooklyn campus.

Chair of Undergraduate Communications Design Meta Newhouse participated in the South by Southwest Education Conference for a panel discussion titled Reframing Dyslexia as a Hyper-Ability. “You actually become more innovative in your pedagogy if you think about it as an opportunity, and you think of that as being really good or interesting friction against your … traditional beliefs of how learning should be delivered,” Newhouse said, according to The Daily Texan.

Thought Matter, a New York–based communication design studio led by Jessie McGuire, visiting instructor of Undergraduate Communications Design, received the 2026 National Design Award for Communication Design from Cooper Hewitt, Smithsonian Design Museum. “Receiving this recognition while teaching at Pratt feels especially significant,” said McGuire. “The Entrepreneurship Minor has deepened my commitment to helping students connect creative practice with industry and the systems of capital and decision-making that shape what gets built and what doesn’t.”
