PR-725 Visual Documentation of Heritage Resources

Visual Documentation of Heritage Resources introduces students to analytical methods for reading and understanding buildings as human-made, three-dimensional objects. Students will learn ways of seeing, describing and documenting buildings through narrative description, photography, measured drawings, field surveys and visual analysis. Students will also learn how to apply their understanding of period styles, materials, methods of construction, alterations over time and other visual clues to support the broader goals and objectives of heritage documentation. The course will comprise multiple assignments culminating in a final project in which students will document and assess a building or set of buildings.
