HMS-322P-01
What is lost in translation, and what is found? In this course, we will explore the theory and practice of translation, and by extension, transmediation (moving from one medium to another) and adaptation (intentionally altering the original in some way). We will read many text types including critical/theoretical texts and creative literary, visual, and film examples of these theoretical approaches in practice. Students will analyze various types of translations and apply the theoretical frameworks to their own creative practice. No foreign language is required for this course, and speakers of all languages are encouraged to join!
