HAD-476P Technologies of Imagination
3 Credits
What is the relationship between creative practices and technological imagination? This course traces the shared histories of art and technology from the early 20th century to today. It examines how modern and contemporary artists responded to the rise of technologies across various geographic areas and cultures, and explores practices and critical frameworks of media art. By studying the intersectional grid of art and technology, we consider the audiovisual experiments of the classical avantgarde, lens and time-based arts in the postwar period, and artistic practices that emerged after the digital turn.
