FASD-664P Shoe Design

3 Credits

This graduate-level course teaches students the concepts of footwear design and how to design and construct one pair of closed toe shoes e.g. one pump shoe or one oxford/lace-up shoe, and two stitched uppers. Students will develop interdisciplinary design methods that are responsive to individuals, cultures and contexts that equip them with the knowledge and practical skills to engage processes that are respectful and ethical. Students develop skills for working with a last and employ lasting techniques for closed shoes, pattern making, sewing, and construction. Students will also consider their designs as catalysts for communication.
