HAD-695P Pratt in Paris: The Material and Visual Rhetoric of French Design

This course that offers a unique, full-scale immersion in 18th -early 20th centuries histories of French design in an expanded content-field beyond the classroom. The course will examine the intertwined development of French decorative arts and design, from fashion and architecture to furniture, porcelain, and posters through in-person visits at renowned Paris institutions. A special focus will be the French interior and the development of various design professions in an urban context.
