This course immerses students in French art from the 18th-20th centuries through seminar sessions, on-site visits, and walking tours in order to critically investigate this question. Through discussions, readings, writing, and most importantly close looking of objects in Paris, students will engage in an in-depth study of the century's major themes andinterpretations.
