Not only has consciousness in the last decade moved from a topic in the penumbras of philosophical and scientific discourse into the bright spotlight, but has become a central topic of research and even political, medical, religious and historical concern. Disciplines like Deep History, History of Mentalities, Transpersonal Psychology, neurobiology and musicology have found themselves profoundly altered by recent discoveries and reorientations around the role of the nervous system and experience in human life. This course will explore developments in a wide variety of practices and systems of knowledge that have the capacity to change, and profoundly enrich and deepen how we ask questions about our relationships to the things we do and make.
