Students will investigate the interplay between 3D design development and 2D communication to expand their creative practice. They will explore a range of digital and manual techniques to enhance ideation and visually communicate garments, materials, textures, and surface design. Hands-on projects enable students to refine their aesthetic sensibilities and design methodologies, achieving proficiency in image manipulation, rendering, and advanced digital illustration. Students will cultivate their physical design journal/sketchbook as a dynamic space for exploration and process documentation. This will lead to the development of a comprehensive digital exhibition that effectively documents and communicates their creative practice and personal narrative. Students in this course are required to develop a design concept based on ongoing research and develop digital storytelling skills. Students will learn Adobe Creative Suite software and use Adobe Photoshop for photo editing, mixed media effects, and digital enhancement and Adobe Illustrator for flat illustrations, layout composition, and creating a digitized moodboard. The skills developed in this course will enable students to effectively communicate their work visually, empowering them to become innovative changemakers in the industry.
