This course is to provide students with a structure for experiential learning through internships at institutions including local arts and civic organizations, government agencies, nonprofit institutions, for profit galleries and corporations, and professional firms the full range of institutions involved in the culture industries, education, and civic engagement. The internship itself provides an opportunity to acquire knowledge of and practical experience in key economic and civic sectors, while the associated course provides structure, support, and advice, guiding the student toward critical understanding of workplace organization and practices. A credit bearing internship is a three way partnership between the student, Pratt Institute and an employer. The responsibilities of each partner must be outlined in a Leaming Contract completed at the beginning of the internship experience.
