City as Studio explores New York City as both site and catalyst for art-making. Through research and material experimentation, students create artworks that engage public space, infrastructure, and communities. These projects examine how artistic processes activate, critique, and reimagine the social, ecological, and civic systems that shape urban life. Approaching the city as a living network of institutions, materials, and relationships, students expand the field of artistic practice and explore new forms of public engagement with contemporary art, working in the media best suited to their ideas.
