Capitalism affects nearly every aspect of our lives. But what exactly is it? How long has it existed? How should we understand the economic, political, ecological, and cultural crises that punctuate its historical development? And where is it headed? In our attempt to answer these questions, we will consider foundational works of classical political economy as well as contemporary theories of capitalism that analyze its unequal and uneven dynamics from a global perspective.
