HAD-349P Art Now
3 Credits
How can we account for the wide-ranging changes that transformed the art world in the wake of globalization? Art Now offers a critical overview of the practices of global contemporary art and explores the artistic strategies and trends, exhibition policies and cultural geographies across continents from the late twentieth century to the present. By studying artworks ranging from objects and moving-image installations to participatory performances and digital projects, the course explores the expansion of creative practices and media, examines key figures of the global art scene, and traces the new locations where art is made and circulated.
