Student Health Insurance

Pratt Institute requires all registered full-time and part-time students to maintain health insurance coverage. To support this requirement, the Institute offers a student health insurance plan. All registered students are automatically enrolled in the plan and charged the corresponding student health insurance fee, which appears on their student billing statement. This charge is applied once a student registers for classes.

Students who are currently insured under family coverage or private medical insurance may request a waiver (opt out of) the student health insurance plan, thus removing the student health insurance fee from their account, once their waiver is reviewed and approved. If you do not want to be enrolled in the student health insurance plan because you are already insured, you MUST complete the waiver process to opt out of the student health insurance plan by the posted deadline. Registered students who are in need of health insurance are automatically enrolled in the student health insurance plan. See below for further information.
