Care Team and BIT Teams

The Care Team focuses on students of concern. It supports students who are at risk and ensures regular coordinated communication between campus departments to ensure student well-being and safety. This team is coordinated by the Director of Student Support and Advocacy, who convenes the committee twice weekly to review reported concerns from across campus.

The Behavioral Intervention Team (“BIT”) works to identify, assess, and manage student situations that pose or may reasonably threaten the safety and well-being of the College community or any of its members. With a multidisciplinary and collaborative approach, the BIT provides a centralized and coordinated assessment and intervention process to identify and aid students displaying troubling or disruptive behaviors, before the onset of the crisis, in an effort to promote a safer campus community. This team receives referrals from the CARE team when matters have escalated and separation from the campus community may be in the concerned student’s and community’s best interest. This team is coordinated by the Assistant Vice President for Student Life, who convenes the committee as needed or when prompted by the CARE team chair, to review egregious concerns.
