Biography

Steve Diskin began his professional career as an architect with the firm of Kenzo Tange in Tokyo, the establishment of his design and manufacturing studio in Los Angeles, and the design of the HELIX clock, which is now in the permanent collection of the Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum. His dual background in industrial design and architecture complemented his 13 years at Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, where he was a professor of advanced product design and co-director of the Industrial Design Masters Program. He has taught extensively at a number of institutions, notably in Switzerland, Germany, France, Norway, Denmark, Estonia, Poland, Cyprus, Israel and Turkey.  Steve was Visiting Professor at the Academy of Art, Architecture and Design in Prague (2004-2005) and held a similar position at the University of Ljubljana (2002-10). His recent publications in Slovenia include Strune od Zemlje do Lune, (What a Totally Crazy Orchestra!), an illustrated book about musical instruments for kids (2004), and A Few Small Details, a collection of essays and excursions about design (2005).
