The Gendermore Packages

By Jane Wu

MS Packaging, Identities and Systems Design, ’21

The current approach to gender-neutral packaging is based on the removal of distinctive gender characteristics. However, this thesis proposes an alternative solution that embraces gender qualities through the use of maximalist design elements. Rather than creating a gender-less package, amplifying genderness through both structural and graphic design elements can lead to a more vibrant and inclusive outcome. This approach aims to create a gender-ambiguous package that celebrates gender diversity and allows individuals to express their unique identities.
