Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Exhibition 2019

Continuing and growing its collaboration with the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards, the Pratt Manhattan Gallery is hosting, in conjunction with Parsons the New School, the National Award Winners Exhibition on view June 1–8, 2019. There will be approximately 223 works of art from Award Winning students from across the nation on view at the Pratt Manhattan Gallery along with selections of award winning writing. Scholastic received over 340,000 entries from across the United States to the scholarship competition and approximately 500+ works will be displayed at both Pratt Manhattan and Parsons. On Friday, June 7, Pratt Manhattan will host a reception for high school art teachers from across the United States whose students have won awards. Other events taking place at Pratt Manhattan on June 7 will include a Virtual Reality design workshop for award winning students facilitated by Pratt Professor David Marcinkowski, and an Open-Mic reading for National Writing Medalists.

The exhibition will feature 223 works (approximately) of the National Gold and Silver Key award winners in the categories of:

Silver Medal with Distinction Art Portfolio
Digital Art
Mixed Media
Drawing and Illustration
Printmaking
Architecture and Industrial Design
Design
Jewelry

In conjunction with the Award Winners Exhibition, Scholastic will host an Award Ceremony at Carnegie Hall on Thursday June 6.

Pratt Professor Mark O’Grady along with Exhibitions Director Nick Battis and Assistant Director Kirsten Nelson continue to facilitate an ongoing collaboration with the Scholastic Art & Writing Awards Program for the 2019 National Exhibition and Award ceremonies along with other activities throughout the academic year.
