How can higher education be transformed, and how can students be better equipped for a changing world? Renowned scholar of history and technology Cathy N. Davidson and Pratt President Frances Bronet will explore these and other questions in a special President’s Lecture Series event that launches a week-long celebration of the Presidential Inauguration.

Davidson’s work focuses on trust, data, and new collaborative methods of living and learning. She is the author of the acclaimed book The New Education: How to Revolutionize the University to Prepare Students for a World In Flux. The Washington Post has referred to Davidson as “one of the most thoughtful voices from within academia calling for a more student-centered university.” President Bronet, a distinguished educator and leader at the forefront of interdisciplinary learning, became Pratt Institute’s president in January 2018. Bronet previously served as senior vice president and provost at Illinois Institute of Technology (IIT) in Chicago, and as acting provost and dean of the School of Architecture and Allied Arts (now the College of Design) at the University of Oregon. For more than two decades, she has worked to extend the creative boundaries by developing and publishing on multidisciplinary design curricula that connects architecture, technology, dance, and the arts.

This event is part of Pratt’s Presidential Inauguration to officially welcome and install Frances Bronet as Pratt’s 12th President.
