Yuliya Dzyuban is an Assistant Professor in the Sustainable Environmental Systems program. Cities are rapidly warming due to compound effects of climate change and urban heat island. Heat effects are often most noticeable in communities that are suffering from historic injustices.

Yuliya will demonstrate how she combines meteorological measurements, geographic information systems, and social science to collect, map, and visualize the relationships between urban design, microclimate, individual health and perceptions of heat.

Through her research, she advocates for infrastructure improvements that support thermally conscious urban design.
