Architect and educator Carlos Jimenez will present a lecture that interweaves several of his works to reflect on the specificities and generalities of the spaces we create.
Carlos Jimenez is a tenured Professor at Rice University and the founding principal of Carlos Jimenez Studio. His work has received numerous awards and has been the subject of various publications, including the recent monograph by AV “30 years, 30 works”. As an educator, Jimenez has been a Lecturer, Juror and Visiting Critic at universities and cultural institutions throughout the United States, Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean, Central and South America, Europe, the Middle East and Japan. He has received several awards for his teaching, including the Design Intelligence “Most Admired Educator 2013”, Rice University’s “2013 George R. Brown Award for Superior Teaching”, and the AIA Houston Educator of the Year Award. Jimenez served as a jury member for the Pritzker Prize in Architecture from 2001 to 2011.
