Exhibiting Education: 3-D Exploration: Opening Reception

STUDENT TEACHING EXHIBITION

Stuyvesant High School started as a training school for boys in 1904. The school then became a specialized high school run by the New York City Department of Education in 1934 and became coed in 1969. Stuyvesant is dedicated to furthering students’ developments in science, math, and technology. Today most students commute to Stuyvesant’s Manhattan campus from Brooklyn and Queens.

The art teacher, Leslie Bernstein and her student teacher, Natasha Seng (Pratt Institute), taught seniors in 3-D Art + Technology over two semesters. Working at the intersection of fine and technical art, students used traditional and non-traditional materials that include clay, wood, plaster, recyclables, water color, acrylic and gouache along with more modern techniques tailored to the digital world of computer design and 3-D printing. Students deepen their learning by achieving mastery in concept, composition and execution.
