Straddling the interface of science, humanities, and art, this course will introduce the basic biology of four archetypal virus families - coronaviruses, poxviruses, influenza viruses, and retroviruses. After providing the scientific foundation and historical context, the primary goal of this course is to sharpen your science communication skills, culminating in an artistic journalism project.
