In this course, students learn to create credible, emotive, characters, for cartoons and animation. Instruction covers research, physical traits, such as proportions, silhouette, posture, and a formal language for traits, such as expressions, structure, costume, color, and shapes. In addition, students will explore the historic and current landscape of character design. Through case studies, readings and discussions the application of these skills in various practices such as TV animation, package design, books, gaming, and beyond will be exemplified.
