CP-400W Breath Is the Mark: Contemplating Art Practice

This course focuses on creativity and creative practice in the arts through the lens of contemplative inquiry, including embodied perception, mindfulness, meditation, visualization, beholding, deep listening, mind mapping, free writing and visual journaling. Students will explore the world of meditation, mindfulness and movement contemplative practices for an inward-focused reflective learning journey and art making processes through drawing. This interdisciplinary elective is both a practical, hands-on learning experience and an analytical experience. Students will study and experience contemplative practices; and experiment with their own creativity through mindful drawing as the focal point for their artistic process.
