3 Credits

  • ARCH-881BP-01

    Monday

    3:30 pm – 6:20 pm

    Higgins Hall North, 102

In this seminar, we will survey the trajectory of conventional architectural practice beginning with the individual practitioner and the traditional firm then shifting to radical models ofpractice and collectives. We will explore how social and cultural factors can impact our work as well as how one’s own values and experience influences design processes. We will research and identify case studies of practice that align personal values and work that is meaningful and impactful. Students will take part in critical-thinking exercises such as visual analysis, personal values maps, multimedia presentations, and develop original field research methods to question a conventional notion of practice in architectural design.
