This course will look at Africa's connections with other regions and global networks from the Age of Exploration to today. It will explore Africa's place in the imaginations and fantasies of outsiders, from the search for the mythical King Prester John to the modern white savior complex. Whether you know a lot or a little about Africa, this course will get you to rethink your stereotypes and to question your assumptions about the importance of Africa in world history.
