Newspapers and networks rely on Church’s incisive sketches to capture heated moments of legal battles, such as this scene from the custody trial of two legendary film stars. In 2010, the Library of Congress acquired Church’s entire collection—some 3,500 sketches—that chronicle over 30 years of the nation’s greatest criminal cases.
