The inventive construction of this pleated sheath dress, which billows out when the wearer moves, illustrates Norell's genius for relaxed yet elegant silhouettes. A pioneering designer of American high fashion, Norell won the first-ever Coty American Fashion Critics Award and, in 1956, became the first designer inducted into the Coty Award Hall of Fame.
