Meier’s hilltop complex unites nature and culture in a holistic conglomeration of museum, conservation center, library, a scholarly center, and gardens. Upon its opening, Herbert Muschamp, architecture critic of The New York Times called it the city’s “stupendous new castle of classical beauty.” Meier has been recognized with a gold medal from the American Institute of Architects and a Pritzker Prize.
