Moss’s masterful trompe l’oeil painting became his first cover for the magazine. A major contributor to Sports Illustrated for over 30 years, Moss also created art for the U.S. Open tennis tournament, the NYC marathon, the Super Bowl, and other championship sporting events. His paintings hang in several sports museums, and he was recognized as the Sport Artist of the Year by the American Sport Art Museum in 1985.
