When Hollywood producers turned to Madison Avenue to boost sales of movie tickets, they tapped the skills and expertise of Frankfurt, who was then head of Young & Rubicam. For Polanski’s controversial horror flick, Frankfurt teased the audience, taking out ads that urged readers to “Pray for Rosemary’s Baby” in the birth announcement sections of newspapers.
