Winner of the Institute of Business Designers (now IIDA) Ron Wallin Distinguished Merit Award, Carlson directed the design of American Express headquarters in New York’s World Financial Center, which included a trading floor, corporate dining rooms, fitness center, TV studio, and auditorium. When the executive facility first opened in 1985, it was among the largest corporate design projects ever completed in New York City.
