Introduction

Pratt engaged The Whelan Group to conduct a Strategic Planning process in 2012. The goals of the process were to define the Institute’s vision, identify the needs of the various departments and divisions at Pratt, and inform the development of the fundraising campaign’s parameters. The Strategic Planning process will also contribute to the Campus Master Plan. The Whelan Group’s approach was to coordinate the various interest groups across the campus, and to focus the entire community on Pratt’s aspirations to be ranked as a top-five institution in each of its core fields of study. By carefully defining goals that the entire Pratt community can embrace, the Strategic Plan is a roadmap for the Institute to achieve these highly achievable aspirations. This Strategic Planning process–the fourth since President Tom Schutte took the helm in 1993–engaged stakeholders from across the Pratt community and has built a sense of excitement and common purpose for the future.
