Middle States Accreditation

Pratt is currently engaged in an accreditation process with the Middle States Commission on Higher Education (MSCHE), one of six regional accreditors in the United States and the accrediting body for Pratt as an institution of higher education.

Central to this process is a self-study, which reflects on institutional priorities, standards established by Middle States, and requirements of affiliation, including federal regulations. The self-study reports analytically-based inquiry and reflection on these points; conclusions, including strengths and challenges, with references to these criteria; and opportunities for ongoing institutional improvement. 

This page summarizes the timeline and process for the self-study, as well as faculty and staff members who are leading the self-study process and key documents associated with it. Throughout the self-study, we will gather community feedback and provide updates on major developments, as outlined in our communications plan (see Self-Study Design, pp. 30-31).

Self-Study Report and Evaluation Visit

Pratt’s Self-Study Report, accompanied by our evidence inventory, has been submitted to Middle States. Our evaluation team site visit will take place on April 7–10, 2024.  All faculty, staff, and students are invited to specific open meetings on Tuesday, April 9, as well as a presentation of the results from the visiting team on Wednesday, April 10:

  • Open meeting with staff: Tuesday, April 9 from 11:00–11:45am, Alumni Reading Room (Library 3rd Floor), RSVP
  • Open meeting with students: Tuesday, April 9 from 12:30–1:15pm, Student Union, RSVP

Timeline

Pratt has requested a spring visit by a team of external evaluators in 2024. In preparation for this visit, the Institute will submit a completed self-study report by Fall 2023, with a plan for the self-study finalized by Spring 2022.
