Launched in 2013, the Brooklyn Fashion and Design Accelerator (BF+DA) is a vibrant hub where designers can build successful businesses that integrate the environment and society into their bottom line and explore the relationship of technology, product, and fashion.
The Accelerator provides space, mentorship, and access to a network of experts that range from design, production, future technologies, business development, and environmental and social impact. The BF+DA welcomes creative entrepreneurs from throughout New York City. The BF+DA provides traditional apparel production for runs from one to one hundred units. Its digital fabrication lab includes laser cutters and 3-D printers and a lab for textile innovation that includes a textile printer, knitting machines, and an extensive samples library. The Accelerator offers showroom space, retail space, conference rooms, and 30 onsite studio spaces equipped for fashion, accessory, product, and media designers.
BF+DA Venture Fellows, Research Fellows, and Virtual Fellows get onsite support to grow their fashion, accessory, and product design companies into viable enterprises within a community of like-minded entrepreneurs. Mentors work one-on-one with client companies connecting them to a network of industry experts, legal advisors, investors, and strategic advisors that understand zero waste manufacturing, supply chains, local resourcing, and life-cycles assessment.
BF+DA members get access to the Accelerator's resources and discounted pricing on production services, showroom rentals, events, and educational programs.
The BF+DA plaza is a 2,000 square foot community space with views of New York City, where people gather for coffee, conversation, knowledge sharing, and networking. At night the plaza transforms into a venue for public events, performances and fashion shows.
