There are a couple of ways to apply for on-campus housing. They will vary depending upon whether the student will be new to campus housing, returning or continuing on-campus housing, or in need of housing only for summer courses.
Students new to campus will begin the housing application process as part of their admissions process to the Institute. Once accepted, students will be given the opportunity to express their interest in living on-campus by making the housing deposit along with the enrollment deposit. Students should review the housing options and license included in the Acceptance Guide.
Beginning on or around April 1, students will be contacted via their Pratt email to complete their on-line Housing Preferences. Students who have been accepted to the Institute and have paid their enrollment/housing deposits will be sent instructions on how to access their Pratt email. It is of vital importance that you access your Pratt email from this point forward as all official communication will be sent to this email address.
At this stage, students will have the opportunity to prioritize which building they wish to live in, state a specific roommate preference, and give personal lifestyle preferences. While we will make all efforts to grant housing preferences, please understand that space is limited and we cannot guarantee that all preferences will be met. The order in which students are assigned is determined by the date a student originally makes their housing deposit and submission of preferences.
All new freshman are guaranteed housing with priority for space given to students who deposit by May 1 and complete their preferences by June 1. New transfers and graduate students are housed as long as space is available starting June 1.
Continuing students on the other hand will apply for housing for the following academic year through the annual Returning Student Room Selection process each April.
Summer housing applications will become available mid-March.
